About Jessica

I have been running courses in childbirth and the postnatal period in Hackney for nearly 30 years. My training has been with the National Childbirth Trust and the Active Birth Centre. I started training after having my own babies. My teaching has been through the NCT and also in health and children’s centres. Currently, I work independently from my home in Stoke Newington. I believe my integrated yoga, birth and baby package offers the most comprehensive preparation for these life changing events. Through weekly contact from 24 weeks on-wards the learning is compact. We get to know each other and build stronger friendships. Furthermore, it is important to follow the course through. This stops the mothers feeling alone with their babies afterwards and there is also a postnatal course.

More Information:

Previously I have taught other formats including stand-alone yoga, couples classes and weekend workshops. Although convenient, I find this joined up approach is by far the most satisfying.
My enthusiasm is for many different aspects like the amazing physical and emotional changes parenthood brings. Also to help women and men get the best births they can. Not to strive for a particular kind of birth. In my classes I like to enable people to connect so that parenthood becomes a social experience. Local baby friends can be made non – competitively. Having attended many births I have knowledge of what it is like to be a birth partner. Now I am very interested in understanding how babies develop as individuals. Also how to help parents enjoy getting to know their babies. This includes having their babies in groups together later.

Training for me includes as a parent – infant group psychotherapist and working with families across London. For many years I represented users in Hackney as part of the City and Hackney maternity services committee. While representing them I wrote a guide local to local maternity services. I contribute content to books and journals about birth, early parenting and group work. In addition, I train professionals in this field.
